March Gladness

FinalfourForgive me for bragging (actually, "celebrating"), but I never get to when it comes to my NCAA March Madness brackets. Despite my late nights wasted following college hoops on SportsCenter throughout the season, I never come close to winning any of the pools (free ones of course) that I'm in.

But this year is different!  I actually picked 7 of the Elite 8 teams, and 3 of the Final 4!  The only bummer is I should have had all 4 picked right. I did. Then I violated the cardinal rule--instead of going with my guy, trusting my initial instinct, I listened to all the talk in the office about "all four #1 seeds will never make it!" and "Memphis is weak, Texas is much stronger", so I changed last second from Texas to Memphis. Doh!  Anyway, 7 of 8 and 3 of 4 = 3rd place in our pool!

And even more exciting, guess who is in 1st place--my 9-year-old Isaiah, who filled out his brackets for the first time ever!  He actually picked 6 of the 8 but all 4 of the Final 4. We both have NC beating UCLA in the final, so if that happens, he'll win and I can't pass him. But if I have to lose to anyone, I'm glad it's him.

Way to go Isaiah, you make Dad proud!  And you did it without having to watch or follow college hoops all year long.....
